Esther is a dear friend, and talented designer, that I met through the University of Oregon! We met through one of my best friends and have kept in contact since. She is the mastermind behind my beautiful branding and I was lucky enough to photograph her intimate vow renewal in Chicago.

When we first started talking in December of 2019, Esther and Jake were thinking about eloping somewhere like Iceland (a dream). Once COVID hit, plans shifted a little and they ended up having a small local ceremony to tie the knot and decided to plan their larger celebration for a year later. With Esther’s family from Oregon and Jake’s family is from Canada, they wanted to celebrate with everyone.

Esther’s amazing eye for design and creativity is apparent in all her wedding details. Their welcome sign and “guest pot” are two of my favorites. Being a plant lover, the pot was a great way to incorporate messages from their loved ones in their home. She also designed a memory book of photos and journal entries from their love story, wedding day, and honeymoon.

After their vow renewal, we ran around the streets of Chicago for a few minutes in her white jumpsuit. The next morning, they spent time showing us around Chicago for some more couple’s portraits in their city. We ended it with donuts and coffee –an instant way to my heart.

I’ll never stop pinching myself that my job allows me to spend so much time with people I love and admire. These two are a special duo and I hope you love this peek into their intimate celebration xoxo
